Brandon Flynn, the 23-year-old actor from Netflix’ hit series 13 Reasons Why, has apparently come out as being part of the LGBTQ community, in light of the gay marriage vote in Australia.
In an emotional post, Brandon calls for haters to stop “showing hate for Us.”
Brandon Flynn, who played Justin Foley on Netflix’ suicide drama 13 Reasons Why, took to Instagram to post an emotional message to his 3.4 million followers.
The post was written in light of the marriage equality vote that’s taking place in Australia these days – where citizens were called to vote on whether same-sex marriage should be legalised.
As part of the “No” campaign, some haters chose to “skywrite” the words “Vote No” above Sydney – and Brandon responded to that.

“Just saw the “vote no” message in the sky, looming over Sydney”, he wrote. “Thank you for raising money and hiring on a plane to write your lack of support amongst the clouds.”
“I hope your hate and lack of understanding fades, just like those words will. Too many of my friends have been kicked out of their homes, kept in the closet, beat up, killed, ridiculed by church and state, institutionalized…
And you are scared that if we vote YES, you won’t be able to show your hate for Us.
Fuck that. We’ve been scared shitless our whole lives thanks to all the stigmas that surround Us, stigmas that were set in place by the same kind of people who flew that plane over Sydney.
We’ve fought, we’ve come out bravely even in our fear, and you wrote a message in the sky because you’re scared.”

13 Reasons Why already had at least one openly gay actor – Tommy Dorfman, who also played a gay character on the show.
