If you follow GayBuzzer, your probably know the name Zander Hodgson – though up until now, our articles about him were mainly about his sexy body and amazing photos. But yesterday, Zander posted an “Important Message” on his YouTube channel – where he came out as gay.
27-year-old Zander Hodgson is an actor and a model, originally from the UK and now in LA. He is known from UK soap opera Coronation Street, and recently, he was also featured in US drama Ray Donovan – and in a gay sex scene, no less.
In his new video, Zander says that life is too short – and “It’s been something that I’ve wanted to share with everyone for a while now.”
“This is something I thought was important to do for my own growth, for myself, to be unashamed, to be able to connect to others, to connect to you more.
I wanted to tell everyone that I’m gay.
And although it doesn’t change anything for me and hopefully not for you, I just thought it is a really important thing to share with everyone, because it is.
Although I say sexuality is like a small part of someone, if you shut it off then you don’t allow yourself to be fully known. And if you shut off one thing of yourself, you shut off so many other things.
I wanted to make this video because, when I think about all the kids out there that are being bullied, or are really struggling with their sexuality, or even teenagers and adults…
I just wanted you to know that you’re not alone. There are people out there like you, and everything is going to be fine, there’s going to be a better tomorrow.“
One of the reasons Zander chose to hold back until now, was the acting industry. “Going into the acting industry as a gay man is not very welcoming. There aren’t many gay actors out there in my age range that I feel like I can relate to.”
He’s also wondering why straight actors often “take” the roles of gay characters – is it because more people would come to see that?
