At 33-yeas-old, Andrew Garfield is almost a Hollywood veteran. And even though many still remember his as the Spider-Man who came before Tom Holland, he had several roles to his name.
Now, amidst the sexual misconduct allegations against people like Harvey Weinstein and Kevin Spacey, Andrew comes out with his own Hollywood misconduct allegations – ones that involved violence.
Speaking with Mic magazine, Andrew is quick to explain that the incidents he is referring to were not sexual in nature – but still represent the way in which Hollywood has been “tarnished.”
“I’ve been on the receiving end of abuses of power. There have been a couple of physical threats of violence. I’ve had a couple of those experiences.
All I could do was stand my ground and say no as strongly as I possibly could and avoid situations that could have ended up really, really badly for everyone involved.”
Andrew, who this year received accolades for his performance on the theatrical version of Angels in America (while also angering some, after saying he is “a gay man without the physical act“), hopes that Hollywood will now become different.
“I pray that this is the start of a massive sea change”, he says.
