GayBuzzer had the chance to sit down with scruffy porn star and comedian Wesley Woods, nominated for nine Grabby Awards this year, including Performer of the Year.
In this special interview, Wesley talks about his life (and worth) as a porn star, preparing for a shoot – and why he actually prefers straight scene partners.
Wesley Woods quickly pours on his Southern Charm – he is a native Texan – and proves himself to be a gentleman with a bit of a naughty side and a great sense of humor.
In addition to his porn career, Wesley is a stand up comic recently transplanted from Vegas to Los Angeles. He’s shared the screen with Topher Dimaggio, Ryan Rose, Trenton Ducati and Johnny Rapid with some of the top studios, including Men.com and Falcon Studios, and we can’t wait to see what he’s up to next.
How did you come up with your porn name? Was your first pet named Wesley and the street you lived on Woods?
“The Main Street in the town I grew up is, ‘Wesley.’ I grew up on a ranch in East Texas and my fondest memories were of me and my brothers playing in the ‘Woods.’
“It’s important to remember where you came from and I thought it was catchy and was symbolic to that idea. On further inspection to ensure no other porn performer had the same name I noticed, ‘Wesley Woods’ is the name of a church camp in Tennessee. I took this as a sign from God and a star was born.”
What was your first audition like?
“There is no audition process – it’s, take some photos, send them to a studio, wait for a call and BOOM! You are on set. Then, you realize the work that actually goes into the making of porno – it’s not as one would imagine and it takes a certain amount of confidence and cockiness!”

How do you separate your porn life and your personal life?
“There is no separation at this point. Life really is a journey and molding of everything you are and everything you’ve done.
“I’m obviously not walking around the streets of LA with my dick in my hand, but I also don’t shy away from the work I do. There’s a fine line with being authentic and raunchy. I want to express sexuality to encourage education – being a complete mess detours from the objective.”
What’s the best thing about being in porn? The worst part?
“I now truly know my worth, it’s roughly $1,500 a day. It truly has liberated me from my insecurities – I had to find my own comfort in who I am and not how I’m perceived, (although that is important to me, too).
“On the flip side, it’s very demanding on your mental and physical state; if you want to be booked, you must play by the rules of the game keepers – the viewers. That includes everything imaginable in terms of physical appearance.”
‘The Morning After’, do you socialize and keep in touch with your scene partners off the clock?
“Never. There are a few I speak to from time to time, and a few I consider friends. I actually prefer to work with the straight men in the industry – there’s no hangups on what it is we are doing – working.
“I ain’t trying to fall in love on set, there is no Brangelina moment with me – I’m in a serious relationship with my best friend, off camera.”

How do you prepare for a day of filming?
“Depends on the scene. Typically as performers there is a lot of preparation that goes into a scene well before the day of – what we eat, the amount of sleep, our sexual life, our workout routines. The day of I typically starve myself so there are no shitty kitties on set.”
What do you do after a day on set?
“I eat!!! I’m ‘hangry’ as hell and will put most anything in my mouth, and have.”
You have done stand up all over the place. What is harder, being naked on set or being on stage?
“Both come with their own style of vulnerability. I’m so comfortable having a boner in public I could perform on stage with one. (And, maybe I have!)”
You have a great relationship with your mom, is it true you guys are working on a book?
“I’m a momma’s boy! She’s the weirdest, wittiest, funniest person I know and I hope to someday be as resilient! We are currently working on a book – think Dr. Seuss does naughty adult humor.”
You did a gay porn parody of Star Wars playing Kylo Ren, what other roles would you love to perform?
“I would love to be in a romantic comedy! Laughter and sex are my addictions and would love to have a studio allow me to write a movie.”
