On Glee, Darren Criss portrayed gay high school student Blaine Anderson. We didn’t get to see him make out with boys A LOT on the show, but there were some kisses here and there. In “real life”, though (well, sort of), Darren gets to make out with a new man every night. And one night, it was with a gay porn star.
On Broadway, Darren is the star of rock musical Hedwig and the Angry Inch, about a transgender east German singer. As part of the show, Darren had to make out with someone from the audience every night, as he tells Conan O’Brien.
“I would tend to pick the people who I assumed didn’t know what was going on”, he explains. “I would try to target the most conservative looking straight boys because that’s just more fun.”
Then, one night, he thought he picked the perfect conservative dude. Little did he know…
“I basically roughed him up quite a bit, he had make-up on him all up in everywhere. Afterwards he came backstage and was a good sport about it.
On the way out, me being pleased with myself for giving a rollicking good time to a conservative young man, a couple goes to me, ‘Do you know who that was? That’s our favourite gay porn star!’.
So this guy was putting on airs. Shout out to that young man. Apparently he’s very well-liked and if I was going to do that, I only went for the best.”
