Only last week Tom Daley had won a bronze medal at the 10m synchronised diving competition, along with Dan Goodfellow – but today [Saturday], his hopes for a third Olympic medal was shattered, as he finished last at the semi-finals for the men’s individual 10m diving contest.
Yesterday (Friday), at the preliminary finals, Daley was the highest scorer, breaking a personal record with over 570 points. But today, he finished last – 18th out of 18, with a score of only 403.25.
Devastating.

12 of the divers will now move on to the finals, later on today – with Daley not being one of them.
Tom’s fiance, Dustin Lance Black, was quick to tweet some comforting words:
We are all so proud of all you've achieved here in #Rio2016 @TomDaley1994. We fight again another day! ONWARD! ❤️❤️❤️
